Seacoast

Saturday, April 7 versus Seacoast, NH. Coach Frenzilli said, “An excellent match. Both teams played hard. A few mistakes by Portland made way for Seacoast scores, along with some untimely Power Pig penalties. Final score was 19-17 Seacoast. A credit to Portland was having the team play as well as it did, despite having first and second side players mixed together throughout the match. Kevin McLellan, Ayaovi Alognon and Tim Clarke scored tries for the Pigs, while Derrick Floridino added a conversion.

Kearsage

Saturday, April 21 versus Kearsage, NH. First Side: Kearsage 31-Portland 15. Coach Frenzilli said, “Saturdays games were well played in spurts, but the Pigs first side could not keep consistent play for any extended time. Turnovers at key times were also costly. Kearsage had great speed in the backs and took advantage of Portland turnovers. A nice 8 man pick up by Tim Clarke, who off loaded to wing Barry Teng who hit flanker Luke Parker on the inside for the try, along with nice try runs by John Clarke and brother Tim accounted for Portlands 15 points.
In a very spirited second side match, Portland and Kearsage played to a 5-5 draw. Kearsage scored just before the first half. Portland worked hard throughout the second half and were rewarded when the pack bound and drove over 8 man Nick Robinson for the equalizer.

Arlington Catholic High School

Sunday, April 29, 2007, Portland vs. Arlington Catholic High School. The Power Pigs started strong, but gave up 15 early points by committing penalties close to their line, leading to tap forward tries and a penalty kick to Arlington Catholic. Portland gave up only one more try in the first half, before fullback Derrick Floridino placed a great cross field kick in the corner, that wing Barry Teng took on a friendly bounce and touched down for the Pigs only try. Floridino then converted making the halftime and final score 22-7.

In the second side match, Portland finally got in the seasonal win column with a 12-0 shutout of AC. Number 8 Nick Robinson and center Tom Stenberg scored tries, while fullback Tomas Callan converted Robinson’s try.

St. John’s Preparatory High School

Sunday, May 6, against St. John’s Preparatory High School

It was the forwards’ powerful assault from the outset that set the stage for the Pigs convincing 43-0 victory. The rucking was clean, the tackling chrisp and the backs handled possession very well throughout the match. Number 8 Spencer Seiferth and Prop Kevin Boucher scored two tries each, while Second Rowers Tim Clarke and John Wescott, along with Flanker Luke Parker accounted for single scores. Center Tom Stenberg kicked four conversions.
In the second match both teams came close but it was not until the last play of the game that Portland’s John Wescott stole a line-out, and the Pigs kept possession long enough to cause a Prep penalty. Scrumhalf Barry Teng tapped and ran, the ball was rucked through two phases with Wescott picking up and touching down between the posts for the games only score. Hooker Matt Grassi, playing Fullback, split the uprights with the conversion and a 7-0 final.
